What We Believe

What We Believe

At the Rockville Church of Christ, our faith and practice are guided solely by the Bible. We strive to follow Christ and His teachings with sincerity, unity, and love. Our goal is to be the church we read about in the New Testament—simply Christians, worshipping God in spirit and truth, and sharing the good news of Jesus with our community and the world.

God

We believe there is one true and living God, who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” – Mark 12:29

Jesus Christ

Jesus is the Son of God, who came to earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day. Salvation is found only in Him.
“Jesus said, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” – John 14:6

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our complete guide for faith, doctrine, and Christian living.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching...” – 2 Timothy 3:16

Salvation

Salvation is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. According to Scripture, we respond to that grace by believing in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing our faith, being baptized for the forgiveness of sins, and living a faithful life.
Acts 2:38, Romans 10:9–10, Romans 6:3–4

Baptism

We practice baptism by immersion for the forgiveness of sins and to begin a new life in Christ, as taught in the New Testament.
“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved…” – Mark 16:16

The Church

The church is the body of Christ composed of believers. We are not a denomination but simply Christians, seeking to follow Jesus and the example of the early church.
“And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” – Acts 2:47

Worship

Our worship follows the New Testament pattern, including:

  • Singing a cappella (Ephesians 5:19)
  • Prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
  • Scripture-based preaching (2 Timothy 4:2)
  • Weekly Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7)
  • Giving to support the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:1–2)

Christian Living

Christians are called to love God and others, grow in faith, and live a life that reflects Jesus.
“Let your light shine before others…” – Matthew 5:16

Our Mission

We seek to:

  • Love God wholeheartedly
  • Serve one another
  • Share the gospel of Christ
  • Live faithfully until He returns

Have Questions?

We welcome open and sincere conversations. If you’d like to learn more, study the Bible with us, or discuss any of these beliefs, we’d be glad to connect.

We strive to be Christians only, following the Bible only, seeking to glorify God in all we do.

“Speak where the Bible speaks, and be silent where the Bible is silent.”
